HPE Simplifies Deployment of Private Cellular Networks with the Launch of HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G

Hewlett Packard Enterprise launches HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G, which helps customers accelerate and simplify the deployment and management of private 5G networks, provides high levels of reliable wireless coverage in large industrial environments and complexes and introduces new use cases for private cellular telephony.

With this expansion of its secure portfolio from the periphery to the cloud, HPE Aruba Networking becomes the only global enterprise infrastructure provider to offer comprehensive Wi-Fi and private 5G solutions that help customers in industries such as manufacturing, health, public premises and education to solve complex connectivity problems in large and remote sites. HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G also helps customers improve productivity and innovation as a complement to low-cost, high-capacity Wi-Fi connectivityFi, in addition to expanding AI data capture and delivery capabilities to build AI data lakes and activate inference solutions.

“Business and industrial customers are increasingly looking to offer wireless coverage in demanding environments, including large outdoor areas, to serve customers on the move and provide greater access in the dedicated spectrum,” said Stuart Strickland, Director of Wireless Technology at HPE Aruba Networking. “The complexity of conventional strategies has hindered the implementation of private cellular networks. Based on HPE Aruba Networking’s history of wireless leadership and innovation, we are uniquely positioned to drive new applications for private cellular networks by combining Athonet cellular solutions with our traditional strengths in enterprise networks”.

HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G also allows communication service providers to quickly deploy private 5G networks for their customers. This integrated private 5G solution complements existing Wi-Fi-based managed services and will help telecom customers cover the growing market for private cellular networks and generate new revenue from their existing business customers.

With the debut of HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G, businesses can expand secure and reliable high-performance connectivity with a fully integrated private 5G network that includes:

  • A complete offering incorporating a 4G/5G core, HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, SIM/eSIM cards, 4G/5G small cells and a control panel.
  • New HPE 4G/5G small cell radios provide indoor and outdoor coverage, eliminating the need to integrate and use a third-party vendor-independent management tool.
  • Simplified, cloud-native automation and management for subscriber management, deployment management, core monitoring and radio monitoring, with future integration plans in HPE Aruba Networking Central.
  • Capture and deliver expanded AI data to build AI data lakes and activate inference solutions.
  • Interoperability with shared spectrum for private business use: the CBRS spectrum in the US and, globally, in places where regulatory structures allow it from 2025.
  • Simplified setup with a pre-integrated, proven solution that includes everything you need to deploy a private 4G/5G network to the enterprise.
  • Ability to deploy solutions in less than 30 minutes with provisioning and configuration programs without intervention that hide the complexity of the 3GPP cellular standard.

This integration complements the 2023 acquisition of private cellular technology provider Athonet, which brings 15 years of leadership in private cellular networks and 500 enterprise installations of private cellular network solutions. Athonet is an award-winning technology pioneer with successful customer implementations in various industries, including major mobile operators, hospitals, airports, transportation ports, utilities, governments and public safety organizations.

“HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G is an important step forward in resolving the complexity, cost, control and management issues related to many current private network deployments,” said Patrick Filkins, Chief Research Officer, IoT and Telecommunications in IDC. “HPE Aruba Networking presents a strong approach to integrating a private cellular network into the customer’s current IT infrastructure in the most efficient way possible, in order to optimize network and device management through the use of known tools, as well as dynamically assigning and preserving device policies on wired 4G/5G, Wi-Fi or LAN networks”.

“Many private network solutions are too complex, even for large companies with in-house networking experience,” said Tom Rebbeck, a partner at Analysys Mason. “We expect customers to adopt solutions that simplify the implementation and management of private networks”.
