Cybersecurity Company VU Reinforces its Leadership within the Global Context

The company, which operates in 27 countries and protects 350 million people in Latin America, participated in the Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit technology mega-event in London.

In the city of London on May 12 and 13, the Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit conference was held, which brought together a community of professionals from the IT sector considered pioneers, intellectual leaders and promoters of digital transformation, to discuss and expose the keys to identity and access management (IAM) required to generate digital trust in all channels and interactions, in the context of growing remote work.

Sebastián Stranieri, founder and CEO of VU, was the only speaker from Latin America at this event. During his presentation, Stranieri discussed the possibilities of eliminating digital identity fraud, as well as the social organization required to close the digital gap that prevents the growth of the violations that concern organizations worldwide. He also reflected on the amount of data that we give to information systems such as banks, the government, businesses, the health system, and even social networks.

In this sense, faced with the possibility of fraud during the data authentication process, I propose those unique elements of people that do not change and could be used for security issues “Our eyes, facial features or fingerprints. We can change our credit card or renew the passport, but the biometric data is the only thing that we cannot modify and it belongs to us. With technology, anyone can be identified with 100% effectiveness and from anywhere.”

As a solution to this problem, Stranieri pointed out that the future “is the Portable Identity Proofing, presented to the Argentine government in 2018.” It is the first digital identity system based on biometric data, which achieved an 85% reduction in fraud cases. “Today in Argentina it is almost impossible to open a bank account with a false identity. As a cybersecurity company we have the obligation to offer an innovative service to create decentralized identity systems”, he stressed.

In fact, VU is the only LATAM partner chosen by Microsoft to decentralize identity and its mission, in this sense, is to make it available to people. This system consists of a universal platform, validation of any type of documentation and integration with third-party web services. These types of portable and decentralized systems serve where people cannot move, as is the case with the proof of life in older adults, or in cases such as the closure due to the pandemic, when 11 million citizens were unable to go to branches to process documentation. banking. “We take care of identity through identity verification systems, which validate that the person is who they say they are, even if they cannot be seen,” explained the executive.

Likewise, he gave an account of the different strategies adopted by governments, innovators and web 3 players to collaborate in redesigning a paradigm of digital identity and protection of citizens: “Eliminating identity fraud in information systems seems impossible, but it is not. In today’s market, we can find powerful tools to reduce it significantly. But if it is not dealt with in time, it will grow as attackers improve their information theft tactics.”

VU is a cybersecurity company that provides solutions for digital identity protection and fraud prevention. With a presence in 27 countries and more than 350 million users, its purpose is to create safe and frictionless experiences to improve people’s quality of life. It offers a centralized platform to consolidate digital identities and implement strong access and authentication solutions.

“We are happy to have been able to present the model that we propose to manage the complete digital life cycle of citizens, taking into account all the attributes of each online person, with social and financial inclusion, in this highly relevant event,” concluded Stranieri.

According to Gartner experts, the imperative for 2022 is the need to strengthen this security structure to keep up with the changes. By 2024, organizations that adopt a cybersecurity mesh architecture will reduce their financial impact and the number and scope of these types of incidents by 90%, while by 2025, they estimate that 70% of new access management implementations , government, administration and privileged access will be converged identity and access management platforms. Meanwhile, by 2026, they estimate that 50% of smartphone users will apply one or more verifiable claims stored in their decentralized identity wallet.
