Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Launches Rainbow Classroom

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, provider of communications, networking and cloud solutions tailored to customers’ industries, announced the launch of Rainbow Classroom, a unique cloud-based virtual classroom engine enriched with real-time collaboration and communication tools.

Effective remote learning requires an intuitive, integrated, and secure platform that can be tailored to the specific needs of educators. The platforms and virtual educational methods have produced significant changes in education, which produce new forms of knowledge transfer since, through information and communication technologies, new paradigms are created in the learning process, where society makes intensive use of all technological means and computer applications that reduce the time of activities, which for decades had complicated their process and development.

That is why, in this scenario, Rainbow Classroom allows teachers to enhance their teaching styles, to meet the needs of their students, through the creation of an all-encompassing virtual learning environment. Teachers can encourage students’ academic and social engagement with a number of secure, real-time collaboration tools; such as monitored study groups, whiteboard, audio, video, instant messaging functionality, file and screen sharing.

The Rainbow Classroom also allows all classroom activity to be maintained, through its ability to retain all documents, conversations, and posts until the end of the period. Rainbow Classroom seamlessly integrates with existing learning management systems (LMS), to enable a virtual learning environment and a set of familiar tools. Rainbow Classroom is also fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and is approved by The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).

In Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been in force since 2018, while in Latin America several governments in the region are developing or updating their legal frameworks on the matter. According to a study by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Mexico is the only country that has specific data protection regulations for the public sector, however, in Colombia, only some data protection regulations apply to the public sector. These are important examples of the proper way to collect data and provide the proper security to protect it.

Rainbow Classroom is hosted on the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise infrastructure, which will enable a robust level of security that applies to all Rainbow products, where communications are encrypted in transit and on standby. With Rainbow Classroom, educators have a solution that enables them to meet the changing needs of students and enhance their success.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise has a large customer base in the Education sector in Latin America, so Rainbow Classroom arrives to complement this portfolio of strategic ALE products that are totally suitable for the sector.

“Learning at home is a trend that is here to stay,” says Moussa Zaghdoud, Executive Vice President, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Cloud Communication Business Division. “However, this change requires flexibility between learning establishments, and we created the Rainbow Classroom to meet just that need. Rainbow Classroom can be tailored by a school or university to optimize the remote learning experience, while ensuring data security and ease of use for teachers and students alike.

The inherent versatility of the Rainbow Classroom allows you to take advantage of it in any learning environment. By using Rainbow Classroom, a company, college or university can turn a simple web browser into a powerful and sophisticated learning tool. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is here to assist in the evolution to a hybrid digital learning environment.
